A student from BPP University has emerged triumphant in the Global Financial Crime Blogging Prize, run by Legal Cheek and US state Bar exam preparation provider BARBRI International.

Tom Watret wins a return flight to the US with his entry on insider trading. You can read the blog here.

Tom narrowly pipped Ruth Keating, a Trinity College Dublin grad and current student at the University of Law, and Theodora Christoforou, a student at BPP Law School who graduated from Essex University in 2014, whose blogs were highly commended by the judges.

Their blogs will be published in the Legal Cheek Journal next week.

The trio of hotshots emerged from dozens of entrants, which were whittled down to a shortlist of six before being passed on to the judges — Hannah Doherty, legal director in the financial compliance team at Clyde & Co, and Roy Zur, a cyber crime expert and CEO at Cybint.

Tom will receive his prize at BARBRI’s American Independence Party in London on 4 July.
