A new TV drama, which maps the working lives of two London-based divorce lawyers, has been given the go-ahead by the BBC.

The show, entitled The Split, will follow the exploits of three sisters, two of whom are divorce lawyers. But in a combative twist, which is bound to create fireworks, creator and writer of the show, Abi Morgan, has placed the sisters within competing firms.

Set in London, the six-part series will examine the lives of Hannah and Nina as they forge careers within the cutthroat world of divorce law. The third sister, Rose, who isn’t a lawyer, is still trying to find her purpose in life.

As well as dealing with high-net-worth clients and big-money settlements in their professional lives, the new series will also shine a light on the sisters’ personal lives and how the two dramatically intertwine.

Morgan — who wrote scripts for the 2015 hit Suffragette — will produce the new series alongside Jane Featherstone. Featherstone has produced shows such as Spooks, Law & Order UK and Broadchurch.

While the BBC are yet to announce a broadcast date, Legal Cheek hopes we have another Silk on our hands.
