Sophia Hesling and Rebecca Hewitt’s joint privacy plea meets deaf ears
A pair of star legal TikTokers have caused a stir on their first day at law school.
The duo behind Legal Cheek‘s huge surge in TikTok followers commenced solicitor training courses today at top legal education providers and were hit by a flurry of requests for selfies.
Speaking at The University of Law Manchester campus from behind a pair large dark glasses, Rebecca Hewitt said: “I know I’m an icon to a lot of young people but I’m human too and I just hope fellow students can respect my privacy as I continue on my path to becoming a lawyer.”
Appearing via videolink from an undisclosed location in the south of England, Sophia Hesling, also wearing large glasses as well as a shawl, added: “Legal Cheek TikTok was a time in my life, but life moves on. I am that person but I’m not that person, if that makes sense. Please allow me the space to continue my journey.”
A law student who queued overnight to get a glimpse of Hesling starting law school in Reading, before taking a flight from nearby Heathrow Airport to Manchester to see Hewitt collect her course manuals later that morning, told Legal Cheek:
“What a morning! They are incredible women!! What they have done on TikTok is beyond words!!! They are personally responsible for me going from a 2:1 to a first in several of my modules last year!!!!”
Despite Hewitt and Hesling’s privacy pleas, rumours continue to swirl of a fly-on-the-wall Netflix series starring the pair. Both declined to comment last week when lawfluencer Justin Farrance posted on LinkedIn, and then deleted, a photo of him and Law Society President Lubna Shuja entering the Supreme Court lit up by projections of Hewitt and Hesling’s faces.
